3230 Jackson Street, San Francisco, 1905
A setting sun breaks through a threatening overcast, just before sinking below the horizon. It's last rays set the hills of Marin and the Presidio Heights aglow with light. This painting was done from a 2" 1905 photo. The house belonged to Alpheus Bull, the father of Esther Bull, who married Edward W. Bullard, grandparents of my four stepchildren; Jed, Elizabeth, Esther, and Brian. That was the very first building in the section of Presidio Heights. It was not damaged by the earthquake, and simply waited for the city to be built around it. It is there today, an aged, but well preserved Victorian.
