Drying Out
In an earlier day, sails were made of cotton canvas that had to be dried often every rain to prevent mold. In this piece, the sails are dacron, but the sailor still goes by the old ways, and hoists his gaff rigged catboats' mains'l with the peak slackened, to be dried in the early morning sun.
